Day by Day

July 19: Mazan, Côtes du Ventoux

Welcome to France! We meet at Marseille at 12 pm for a shuttle to the first hotel, followed by a light lunch at 1 pm and bike fitting before the warm-up ride along the beautiful grounds knows as the Côtes du Ventoux. Our ride today meanders through the Provençal countryside and takes us on the road less traveled via the national velo routes. Tonight’s dinner is a memorable experience as we watch the sunset with glasses of crisp rosé in hand.

July 20: Mazan to Gordes

Today’s ride starts with the ascent to Mt. Ventoux, a legendary mountain for all cycling fans that stands alone in the middle of Provence, 6,273 ft of foreboding mountain, with its last 6 miles bearing an astonishing resemblance to the lunar landscape. During the second part of the ride, we follow the quiet roads of Provence.

July 21: Gordes to La Palud-sur-Verdon

Our most challenging ride unfolds along the lesser known corners of Provence, along the red clay of Roussillion and the purple fields of lavender, towards the end we go by the idyllic village of Moustier Sainte Marie, and continue along the Verdon Canyon all the way to La Paqlud Sur Verdon.

July 22: Watch the Tour! Loop to Castellane

Today we don’t move our luggage, we’ll have a choice of rides to watch the Tour in the nearby village of Castellane or at the Col de La Colle.

July 23: Castellane to Lac de Serre Poncon

A long ride along yesterday’s stage course, the Alps are close now and white tops will appear here and there. Once at the end of the ride, we’ll shuttle to our base for the remainder of the trip, the ski station of La Grave, powder paradise in winter and cyclists' nest in summer!

July 24: Watch the Tour! Ride to Croix de Fer

Watch TOUR DE FRANCE at Col de La Croix de Fer; the Tour is at its last stages, the tremendous switchbacks of La Croix de Fer will make the final selection between the candidates for the yellow jersey in Paris, we’ll be there cheering and experiencing once again the unique atmosphere of Le Tour.

July 25: Watch the Tour! Col du Galibier

We leave early in the morning to tackle the fearsome Col du Galibier, the sixth highest mountain pass in the Alps and the second highest point of the TDF. The views are breathtaking and we’ll have a picnic and wait for the pros to ride by!
