Classic New England Rides from a “Keene” Base

Highlights

The National Trust for Historic Preservation has added Keene to its list of “America's Dozen Distinctive Destinations,” calling it a “Currier & Ives landscape come to life.” Join us in Lauren’s hometown and discover the rich history, pristine landscapes and gorgeous back roads that inspired her passion for cycling.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Surry Mt. Dam

Pedal down a meandering bike path along the Ashuelot River.

Day 2 – River Valley Ride

Today, classic New England back roads lead to Westmorland, a bucolic agricultural community. Enjoying stunning views of the Connecticut River Valley along the way. Tonight, savor a traditional Italian feast and a stroll along Keene’s historic Main Street.

Day 3 – Mt. Monadnock

Enjoy a classic route that circles the icon of Southwest New Hampshire, Mt. Monadnock—a towering gentle giant. Our loop begins with a spin to picturesque Harrisville, a prototype of a rural New England factory village and a great favorite with artists.

Day 4 – Swanzey

An easy ride takes us to Swanzey, a French and Indian War battle site. We’ll visit four picturesque covered bridges and loop around Swanzey Lake before we head back to Keene for a final lunch together on the green.
