Maine Multisport ExperienceCycling, Kayaking, Yoga and Hiking from a Penobscot Paradise
Highlights
The untouristed peninsula “Down East” between Penobscot Bay and Mount Desert Island makes an ideal base for our active retreat. Quiet roads that zigzag through an ever-changing landscape of sheltered coves filled with lobster boats, sleepy villages and boulder-strewn hills offer fantastic cycling with dramatic views. |

Trip ItineraryDay 1 – Brooksville
Settle into the Oakland House, a classic Maine seaside resort and your home for the next 5 nights. Following introductions and a welcome cocktail, we'll take a warm-up ride to Bagaduce Falls, where you'll love the spectacular views! Our gracious host, Jim Littlefield, will later give us a historical tour of the 120 year-old Oakland House. Day 2 – Stonington
Bike across a series of land fingers linked by bridges. Lunch in Stonington, a typical Maine lobster port with weathered docks and fisherman huts. We'll stroll through the town, which is lined with numerous galleries. On our way home, spin in and out of coves to see how the local lobsterman work and live. Unwind with our hour-long yoga session before savoring yet another culinary creation! Day 3 – Penobscot Bay
Kayak on the bay with our two registered Maine guides, who are committed to careful environmental stewardship and learning traditional north woods ways. Share stories and laughs over a delicious Ciclismo picnic. If you prefer to stay a little dryer, take a round of golf at the Island Country Club or a boat ride to Duck Harbor for a guided hiking excursion through Acadia National Park. In the afternoon, an optional spin and/or yoga session precedes a cooking lesson and fantastic dinner. Save up your energy for this evening, because tonight we'll have contra dancing (a New England tradition) accompanied by a local band! Day 4 – Blue Hill
Cycle to the artist village of Blue Hill, with amazing views of sparkling, wide-open waters along the way. Our first stop takes us to Woodenboat School, a seafaring institute of national fame. Afterwards, spend some time talking to artists and exploring the galleries and distinctive shops of Blue Hill. Day 5 – Castine
Start the morning with a cruise and go lobster fishing with a local sea captain! Take in the fresh sea air as you learn the art of lobster trapping and discover other marine creatures. You'll have options in the afternoon, including a loop to Cape Rosier for a natural history walk. Visit Castine, one of Maine’s most photogenic villages and this evening enjoy a Farewell Lobsta’ Feast. |
