Lance Armstrong has recently announced he will be coming out of retirement to join the world of competitive cycling once again! Be there to witness his astounding attempt at a record-extending 8th win of this famous French race in July 2009.
After riding actual portions of the race, be there on the sidelines to cheer on Lance during this heart-pounding race. Through the insider knowledge of our expert guides, we'll bring you to the best vantage points to experience the race. Itinerary
Day 1 – Carcassonne
Begin with a warm-up ride around Carcassonne, famous for its hilltop city center, La Cite.
Day 2 – Castres
Pedal out to the end of stage 12 of the Tour at Castres for the exciting finish as the cyclists attack the final stretch.
Day 3 – Albi
Ride to Albi amidst breathtaking mountain scenes and the Tam River. Stop and watch Stage 13, the individual time trial. Watch as they tackle the climbs and descents of the hilly terrain.
Day 4 – Mazamet
Catch another challenging stage of the tour, Stage 14, which starts with an incline. After the riders depart, pedal to the heart of the majestic Pyrenees.
Day 5 – Pyrenees foothills
Loop around the foothills of the Pyrenees, an area perfect for combining cycling and rustic French culture. Pass by vineyards and quiet fields as they bask in the shadows of the looming mountains.
Day 6 – Rest Day
Just as the Tour takes a rest day, so do we! Enjoy the day by taking advantage of the local sites or relax in the peaceful, sunny areas surrounding the Pyrenees.
Day 7 – Col D'Aubisque
The stage 16 climb to Col d'Aubisque is not only a stunning ride, but a very important climb for the racers. This decisive mountain stage will be a changing point for many riders in the tour. Return to the hotel for a farewell dinner and a toast to the competitors of the race!
Day 8 – Au Revoir!
Shuttle to the train station to make your connections.
