Itinerary
Day 1 – Salzburg
Enjoy a warm-up ride through the picturesque city of Salzburg. Host of one of the best cycling path networks in Europe, Salzburg offers an opportunity to cycle away from traffic and close to nature.
Day 2 – Hallein
south towards the mighty Tauern Mountains in the Alps. Cruise along the Salzach River along a charming bike path to the medieval city of Hallein, epicenter of the “salt region.” Return to Salzburg for the night to relax at the hotel.
Day 3 – Mondsee
A popular holiday spot, Mondsee is a myriad of walking and cycling routes which make it especially friendly to active travelers. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the stunning countryside.
Day 4 – Gmunden
Pedal over a beautiful mountain pass surrounded by peaks and waterfalls. Picnic along Lake Attersee, the largest in the Austrian Alps. Be sure to bring a bathing suit and take a dip in its waters!
Day 5 – Steyr
Cruise along the Steyr River bike path and down the famous “Romantic Road,” an old trade route during the Middle Ages that still retains much of its medieval character. This city offers an impressive integration of an ultra modern industrial city with its historical roots.
Day 6 – Freistadt
Follow the Enns River bikeway to Linz, the lively capital of the region. Continue to the peaceful medieval village of Freistadt, once part of an old trade route into Bohemia, now complete with well-preserved walls, towers and gates.
Day 7 – Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic
Roll into the Czech Republic and stop in the medieval town of Cesky Krumlov, one of the most charming in the country and the pride of the Southern Bohemia region. Its architecture has been preserved through the ages, thanks to the area’s peaceful history.
Day 8 – Ceske Budejovice/Prague
Spend the morning exploring Cesky Krumlov or take the optional loop to the beautiful baroque town of Ceske Budejovice, largest city in Southern Bohemia. Also visit Holasovice, a typical village in rural Baroque style and listed as a UNESCO Heritage Site. Regroup in the afternoon for a shuttle to Prague.
Day 9 – Na Shledanou!
Spend a little more time in Prague or continue your travels to explore other parts of the Czech Republic.
