The Tour de France is upon us, it's starting tomorrow! Who's as excited as I that it's beginning? July is defined by the Tour de France and this year (finally), I will be able to watch it on my own television. Then again, I see the stages of the Tour as a pretty good excuse to get together with friends, go out and watch it together in a variety of cycling establishments and bars.
Ciclismo Classico has a trip going to the last week of the Tour this year. In Ciclismo style, the tour includes towns in northern Italy (the Tour rolls through Italy!) and then we continue following it to Grenoble. Keep an eye out for updates and pictures. A photo journalist from Outside magazine is accompanying the group, too. It's a dream for so many people to be able to go to France to see the tour and ride the Alp d'Huez, we feel honored to be able to help fulfill this dream. Star guides Frank and Dana will be leading the group this year. Interested in going next year? Tell us now!
As eloquently stated on Facebook a moment ago by Neil Lutsky:
Watching the Tour is the time-absorbing equivalent of a black hole. Not much happens most of the time in the event or the broadcast. It sucks up time for work, the fleeting opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, even biking. I'm addicted and will probably watch every minute I can...
With that, we'd like to wish you and yours a very enjoyable Tour de France this year and for those of you in the U.S., a very happy Independence Day!
Allez!
