Day 1–2: Tournus and the Abbey de Cluny
Day 1: Meander towards the Natural Reserve of Truchère – where the wind has amassed tons of sand over 10,000 years to form dunes along the river Saône.
Day 2: The feudal hamlet of Brançion is one of the most stunning locations in France, perched
delicately between two steep rocky ravines. Today we discover also the village of Cluny, the famous Abbey, and have a wine tasting in its underground cellars.
Day 3–5: Beaune, la Cote d'or and la Foret de Ha
Day 3: Moving out from the Mâconnais, we head North into the Chalonnaise appellation. This natural stretch in the Côte d’Or produced many of the same geological formations found in other well-known valleys, with its affluence for Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Aligoté and Gamay.
Day 4: Visit the southern half of the Côte d’Or, starting with visits in Sautenay, Puligny and La
Rochepot. This route offers a magnificent example of the varnished-shingle roofs that you’ll find prevalent in all of Burgundy.
Day 5: After a walking tour of Beaune in the morning, you can do some last minute shopping
before heading out to Volnay and Pommard.
Day 6–7: Gevry, la route des Grand Crus and the Ouche Valley
Day 6: After breakfast we head into the Côte de Nuits along the Route des Grands Crus, before rolling into the quaint village of Nuits-St. Georges, the city famous for its production of Grand Cru.
Day 7: Today we visit the Ouche valley and anyone tempted to cycling the Mt. Afrique before
heading back home will be delighted (if not humbled!) by its view from the top. We’ll meet back in our hotel for an unforgettable last meal!
Day 8: Au Revoir!
Extend your stay in the area or take the group shuttle to the Dijon train station.
